Studio Reopening Monday 6th of July
In line with the latest Government Guidance issued on 25th of May, businesses including Photography Studios can reopen from the 15th of June, providing they put in measures in place to be Covid secure. I have been working behind the scenes putting these measures in place to make sure my studio meets the latest Government Guidance, and as a result I will be reopening the studio on Monday 6th of July. I have lots of new measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety when visiting the studio (my detailed Policy is below). Thank you all for your continuing to support my small business-Gemma.
Covid-19 Health and Safety Studio Policy and Procedure May 2020
At Gemerations Photography I have always taken health and safety as a priority. Keeping my studio a clean and safe space has always been my focus even before the Covid-19 pandemic, because when working with children, there is always a risk of germs and illness spreading. I want to reassurance my clients that your healthy and safety is my number one priority, so I will be introducing some changes and additional measures to the way I deliver my Photoshoots in the studio. These procedures below will be adhered to before, during and after each photoshoot, for the foreseeable future, when the Covid-19 virus is still considered to be an active threat.
Clients will be asked at time of booking if they or anyone in the booking falls into either risk category below.
There are 2 levels of higher risk according to the NHS:
High risk (clinically extremely vulnerable)
If you're at high risk from coronavirus, you're advised to take extra steps to protect yourself. This includes not leaving your home (called shielding). If a client falls into high risk (clinically extremely vulnerable), then the photoshoot booking will not be approved, until NHS health guidelines deem these people no longer need to shield themselves at home.
Moderate risk (clinically vulnerable)
If you're at moderate risk from coronavirus, it's very important you follow the advice on social distancing. This means you should stay at home as much as possible. If you fall in a moderate risk category, it is recommended you seek medical advice, as to whether a photoshoot is deemed appropriate in accordance with your own personal health needs.
To see if you fall into either list go to:
Types of Photoshoot
Please do not bring any extra family members to the photoshoot, as this will make it harder for me to socially distance myself from you all (if in doubt please message me to discuss this). Photoshoots are strictly limited to immediate family from the same household only with no additional guests e.g. Grandparents / Cousins.
Some types of Photoshoot will not be available to book due to being higher risk:
-Maternity Photoshoot-currently pregnant women fall into the coronavirus moderate risk category. The guidance states that if your at moderate risk from coronavirus, it's very important you follow the advice on social distancing. This means you should stay at home as much as possible. Therefore as a Maternity Photoshoot puts the client at extra risk of exposure, these photoshoots will not be offered.
-Newborn Photoshoot-the photographer holds the baby for the majority of the photoshoot so that they can pose them in and out of props, thus the 2 metre social distancing cannot be maintained in a Newborn Photoshoot. Also this is a longer photoshoot of 2 hours, which again creates a longer time period for when social distancing cannot be upheld.
-Family Photoshoot-family photoshoots will only be carried out if the clients are all from the same household, this is to uphold current Government rules. Family Photoshoots are for a maximum of 5 to make social distancing easier.
Before the Photoshoot
-If I am unwell I will postpone your photoshoot and it will be rearranged
-If you, your child or any family member are showing any signs of any illness prior to the photoshoot, or you believe you may have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus please contact me so your photoshoot can be postponed until you are better

-An automatic soap dispenser is provided in bathroom
-A handwashing poster is displayed in the bathroom above sink
-Paper towels are provided in the bathroom, with a pedal waste bin
-During the Photoshoot I will be wearing PPE, including disposable gloves and apron, along with a face mask
-In the main studio room / cake smash room there will be markings on the floor to show a safe distance for me to shoot from
-In regards to hands on contact with your children, I will need to keep that to a minimum to uphold social distancing, so for the time being parents will need to take a more hands on role in the photoshoot, including putting them in a seated position, sitting close by to them during the photoshoot.
-Hand sanitiser is provided in both studio rooms for clients to use as and when needed, but according to Government advice, the most effective method is thorough hand-washing for 20 seconds, and I will pause the photoshoot for hand-washing purposes.
-Handwashing facilities are available in the bathroom with hot water/soap
-Nappy changing is to be done within the bathroom and clients are asked to double bag nappies and to take nappies home with them

End of the Photoshoot
-After the photoshoot gloves and aprons will be disposed of, and fabric face masks will be washed at the end of the day on a high temperature
-There will be increased cleaning after each photoshoot in higher risk areas and higher risk surfaces. When cleaning after a Photoshoot gloves will be worn. A disposable cloth, will be used to firstly clean hard surfaces with warm soapy water. Then these will be disinfected with Milton. Particular attention will be given to frequently touched areas and surfaces, e.g. door handles, light switches, toilet handle (only one photoshoot is booked in per day to allow this to happen)
-Clients are asked to wash their hands with hot water in the bathroom before leaving the studio
-Clients will be asked to double bag nappies & take them home to dispose of
-A deep studio clean is done at the end of each day (including steam mop of all the floor spaces)
-Clothing/fabrics are machine washed at a high temperature after use

- If anyone in the client’s household develops Covid-19 symptoms within 14 days after the photoshoot, you will make Gemerations Photography aware of this as soon as possible.
